EarthQuake
What is an earthquake?
An earth quake is rapid amounts of violate shaking and vibration of the underground surface. This causes rocks under all the stress of violate shaking to break and move creating Fault plane.
Which kind of plate boundary they occur at?
An earthquake only happens when sudden breaking and movement of large sections also known as the tectonic plates, of the earth’s rocky outermost crust. An earthquake is known to occur along any type of plate boundary.
How they actually happen - an explanation of the science behind it?
Because some plates do no slide along one another smoothly and other plate boundaries do not move smoothly along side others this causes the buildup of pressure. With that tension is being also built up by this pressure. So the tension inside the crust and pressure needs to be released, when this action is done is usually results to an earthquake.
Do we have any machines/instruments that help predict when certain features will occur or how strong they are?
A scientist named Harold Tobin is using a tactic called Digging deep to allow him and his colleagues to be able to learn more about the movement of plate boundaries. The instruments used are an installing ultrasonic instruments designed to detect the slightest movements.
They have been digging since last fall and have already reached a mille below the earth's floor they attempt to drill over four miles down. Using these instruments he and his colleagues will drill spherical holes about 15 in diameter.
Another instrument that is knows to help in the prediction of earthquakes is known as the Electromagnetic signals. This signal was known to be able to predict the arrival of earthquakes shown it helped detect the arrival of an earth quakes that hit Japan two months before the hit.
Greek researchers who developed this instrument, Panayiotis Varotsos, Kessar Alexopoulos and Konstantine Nomicos, all of the University of Athens – say that electrical and magnetic activity in the ground can predict the location, time and magnitude of some earthquakes.
What do earthquakes cause and how do they effect people in real life.
A 30 year old woman named Raheeem Jann, Wife of Wali-ur-Rahman Lived in a village called machiara. She owned a lives stock and was out collecting grass for her buffaloes. When she returned back home she felt a thunder quake around her home. She saw heavy rocks slipping towards her and tried to escape but unfortunately a huge rock strike her in the leg .It resulted two leg operation that were both a failure, and she had to have her leg cut off because it was untreatable. When returning back home she returned to nothing her home was destroyed by the earthquake. Raheem Jann was left homeless and later informed about a village by a friend named Ajaz Gillani. This is where she was provided shelter and other necessities to live.
Earthquakes are known to cause great damage by the collapse of huge buildings and other man made structures like homes and towns and even cars and small local areas. Earthquakes ruin family and injure innocent individual. It also destroys power and gas lines this could lead to loss of power to home and buildings and even fires. Earths do not only damage the homes and buildings, power lines and other manmade things. Depending on where the earthquakes occurred whether on land, snow, islands or oceans it can create things like, landslides, snow avalanches, and volcanic eruptions.
